“Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful.”

I just got home after driving around all morning. This is what was playing on the radio station that I happened to tune into --

over and over and over again

( - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said she has told Catholic cardinals, archbishops and bishops to use the pulpit to promote immigration reform.

David Horowitz at UCSD 05 10 2010 -- A Muslim Jew-hater and supporter of genocide is flushed out by David Horowitz at a speech during "Israel Aparth...

I decided to tune into WTIC - AM1080 (hard to find an FM station around here that plays decent music anymore) whilst driving around the greater Hartford area this morning. Rush Limpballs comes on at noon, so I thought I'd be safe. BIG MISTAKE! Looks like that big blabbermouth Jim Vicevich is back on the air. His blog is full of the "Thank God and the Heavens above that you're back" comments. WHAT is up with all these shock jocks getting so much airtime? Nevermind -- it's pretty obvious who owns the airwaves. This guy can't even form a complete sentence. It hurts so bad just to listen to him.

Here are a few more opinions that probably describe him better than I can.

Ed McKeon posted the perfect comment about this fool and others just like him this past fall:

The Hartford Courant today printed an editorial about several incidents which indicate a loss of civility in the public discourse. Say the editors:

The health care issue has seen incivility raised to a tactic — premeditated rudeness — in town hall meetings across the country, driven by hate radio and vituperate bloggers.

Local crackpot broadcaster, WTIC-AM's Jim Vicevich took that sentence personally, excoriating editors for not including a list of uncivil incidents during the Bush administration.

I, for one, am glad that Vicevich self-identifed with "hate radio," because the first step in recovery is recognizing that you have a problem.

Now Jim, if we could only convince you to admit that your undergrad degree in economics does not put you on par with Paul Krugman. Your 15 watt notion of the free-market is nothing more than a rehashing of the cribbed talking points of think-tanks, bloggers, pundits and lobbyists for the corporate giants who need nincompoops like you to do their bidding.

Viceofabitch is not only an angry "teabagger"...he's just plain angry.

Vicevich is one of a growing number of flatulating right winged talking rectums who think if they ape the style of their Oxycontin popping dope fiend messiah, El Rushbo, they'll strike it rich with a syndicated program. These gasbags are the 5th column of our time. With their constant stream of propaganda they're promoting another civil war.

Vicevich is a self-labeled social libertarian and political conservative. He is known locally as Connecticut's Rush Limbaugh.

YES I dislike what Nancy Pelosi said and YES I dislike what that muslim woman said (and for the record -- I dislike David Horowitz too), BUT can't we find a way to address these issues without all the hatred spewing out of our mouths? You should have heard this guy Vicevich and his handpicked "callers". I am embarrassed to say that I listened to WTIC. Shame on you for putting this guy back on the air. I felt as though I was in KKK land.

Boy oh boy do I miss Bob Steele

Quick with a pun (and a corny joke or two), Steele’s respect for the spoken word was renowned. He regularly shared with his audience tips and lessons on grammar and pronunciation, including his Word for the Day, an always popular part of his show...
