Honky Rain Dance

Georgia on My Mind.

Gov. Sonny Perdue of Georgia will join lawmakers and ministers on the steps of the state Capitol to pray for rain today (amid controversy, naturally.)

But it's a rainy night in Georgia,
baby, it's a rainy night in Georgia
I feel it's rainin' all over the world, kinda lonely now
And it's rainin' all over the world

UPDATE Wednesday:
There is some rain in the southeastern part of Georgia today, but as Hinessight.com reported yesterday, there was already rain in the forecast as the governor participated in the Christian rain dance.

From the comments, I learned from Jersey Cynic that a group known as Rabbis for Rain had performed a prayer ceremony on November 7th. At the time it was believed that it just might work because the last time they did, it in 1986 four days of rain followed. Perhaps the rain currently in Georgia is a result of the rabbi's prayers from last week?

Rather than resorting to human sacrifice, I suggest that we all hum songs about Georgia today and keep Georgia in our hearts and minds:
Georgia on my Mind
Rainy Night in Georgia
The Night the Lights went out in Georgia
Sweet Georgia Brown
The Devil Went Down To Georgia
Midnight Train to Georgia
Georgia Camp Meeting
Hey there Georgie Girl
And more
