Clusterf**ck USA

From Arming the Enemy
"A midsummer report by the Government Accountability Office that the Pentagon “cannot fully account for about 110,000 AK-47 rifles, 80,000 pistols, 135,000 items of body armor, and 115,000 helmets” issued to Iraqi forces as of September 2005 did not stir the city’s stifling air."

Tens of thousands of weapons are unaccounted for in Iraq. Who knows who's got them? Planeloads of weapons left over from Bosnia were supposedly sent to Baghdad by the Pentagon, but there is no record that the planes ever made it to Baghdad. All but 3% of weapons that were handed out to Iraqi's are untraceable. In many cases, Iraqi soldiers signed up, got their pay and took their weapons home, never to be seen again. Saddam's stockpiles of weapons were looted- there are 4-6,000 shoulder fired missiles that went missing.

Makes me wonder if the government isn't being totally incompetant on purpose.
