OH MY GOD

I had an interesting encounter yesterday. We have a booth at an antique store and a customer and I were discussing the dearth of rain in our area. I mentioned this, thinking it was totally hilarious. She did not. Her comment was that we could use a lot more prayer. It was not my establishment so I was constrained from speaking my mind. It did occur to me, however, that what we actually need is for people to spend a lot less time on their knees and more actually doing something practical about the ills we face as a society. Praying is a cop out. Apparently you can feel you have done your part with a few minutes speech with your invisible friend. No wonder we are going backwards.
