The Christo-fascists vs John Edwards

We're a little late getting in on the discussion regarding Melissa a/k/a Shakespeare's Sister and Amanda of Pandagon , both of them fantastic bloggers, and their adventure into wingnut land after being hired by John Edwards' campaign (and I am planning on voting for him, so I hope he doesn't let me down.)

The "religious" right wing went nuts over the ladies' previous comments on their blogs regarding the religious right, particularly Catholic League President William Donohue who called them "anti-Catholic, vulgar, trash talking bigots." The women are actually not bigots but 'pointers out of hypocrisy.' But let's not forget that Mr. Donohue is a bigot, "...Hollywood is controlled by secular Jews who hate Christianity in general and Catholicism in particular. It‘s not a secret, OK? And I‘m not afraid to say it. That‘s why they hate this movie. It‘s about Jesus Christ, and it‘s about truth. It‘s about the messiah. Hollywood likes anal sex...." Scarborough Country 2004)

Donohue also criticized Shakespeare's Sisters post concerning President Bush's "wingnut Christofacist base," as if that is some sort of untrue smear. I sincerely doubt that Shakes Sister will post comments in that vein on Edward's blog and I doubt that her comments on her own blog will sway anyone who would vote for Edwards'. The religious right already hate him because he was a lawyer. (right, NC Gal?)

Looks like Edwards will back the bloggers according to CNN (but there have been stories published to the contrary.)
