The Mayor of Key West was interviewed on TV this morning. He stated that in Key West there is a shelter of last resort but he said, "It’s bare bones, no water and no food."
I guess Mayor Nagin isn’t alone in his "lack" of hurricane preparations at the Super Dome. I’m not condemning either mayor. I’m only making the point that apparently it isn’t to be expected that there will be food and water in any shelter of last resort. Should there be a requirement that all shelters have food and water available? Well, it sure would be nice, but I don’t know how feasible that would be since no one ever knows how many people to expect to come to these shelters.
