It's getting closer and closer to zero hour. The RNC will be here shortly. Cops are planning for riots and protestors claim that they will be peaceful. The FBI is investigating regular Americans who want to protest the convention. As I recall from years ago, the cops and undercover FBI or CIA 'hippies' used to turn a peaceful protest into a riot. Be sure to dress like a delegate (polyester) or a business person if you plan to protest.
At the same time the city is being sued by activists for not getting a permit to use Central Park's Great Lawn for a protest, Mayor Bloomberg is offering cute little "Peaceful Political Activist" buttons to protesters which will enable them to get a discount at such notable venues in The Big Apple as the Whitney Museum, the Museum of Sex, the Pokémon Center store and such restaurants as Miss Mamie's Spoonbread Too and Applebee's. Oooh I'm so there.
