Outraged by Outrage

Today Senator Inhofe of Oklahoma said, "as I watch this outrage that everyone seems to have about the treatment of these prisoners I have to say and I'm probably not the only one up at this table that is more outraged by the outrage than we are by the treatment.

"The idea that these prisoners, they're not there for traffic violations. If they're in cell block 1A or 1B, these prisoners, they're murderers, they're terrorists, they're insurgents, and many of them probably have American blood probably on their hands and here we're so concerned about the treatment of those individuals."

But the Red Cross (ICRC) report on the treatment of prisoners in Iraq in February 2004 said that certain CF military intelligence officers told the ICRC that in their estimate between 70% and 90% of the persons deprived of their liberty in Iraq had been arrested by mistake.

Inhofe said the photographs of U.S. soldiers mistreating hooded, naked prisoners should be accompanied by photos of mass graves and the executions of prisoners under Saddam.

Though he called the soldiers charged with abusing Iraqi prisoners "seven bad people," he added, "I am also outraged that we have so many humanitarian do-gooders right now crawling all over these prisons looking for human rights violations while our troops, our heroes, are fighting and dying."

Well Sieg Heil, baby. Welcome to the Nazification of America. It's tough being a moderate in America today. One one hand we have those lefties trying to make sure that I don't smoke myself to death or eat McDonald's to death or accidentally use the name of G-d in public... and on my right, we have the 3rd Reich coming to power. I think John Ashcroft is just as bad as whoever went to court to get G-d taken out of the pledge of allegiance. Whether or not I believe in God.. I am not offended if his name is written or uttered or on a statue. If it said 'Allah'.. I don't care either. I think the Patriot Act sucks as much as banning people from having certain public areas to smoke in. I live in both a liberal police state and a right wing radical country. They both suck. Where's my democracy?
