Yesterday I posted a story about the US Government using biblical prophecy in Rumsfeld's war correspondence. I was shocked but not that shocked because if you'll recall, at the beginning of the war on Iraq, a lot of apocalyptic language was being used by the president and his cronies. Last night I happened to be watching Keith Olbermann, which is rare, but I wanted to see if there was anything on the news about it. A Baptist minister, The Rev. C. Welton Gaddy was on as Keith's guest. He gave one of the most theologically sound explanations of why this was so very very wrong. Please watch.

UPDATE: Religion Dispatches has a great piece up which goes on to explain how the biblical verses used in the Bush era apocalyptic intelligence updates are taken out of context (as if you didn't suspect that already.)
