in other news, the Himalayas are melting

Which is to say, the glaciers are melting.  We knew that, right?  I think there's something up with no one talking about this, but everyone's seen a polar bear adrift on a piece of ice, looking lost.  The Alps are melting as well, but let's read Vandana Shiva's commentary on the Himalayas, for today.
