I'm your typical New Yorker.
I have never been to the Statue of Liberty. In fact the closest I ever got to it was on a drunken boat trip when I was a senior in college. Mostly I just look at it from the Verazzano Bridge. (I've never been to Niagra Falls either.)
Maybe this year I will go to the Statue of Liberty because the crown is being reopened for the first time since 9/11 for tourists (not terrorists) on July 4th. I'll have to wait until tourist season is over because only 30 visitors/hour will be granted entrance to the crown and I am impatient.
If you're visiting NY this summer and plan to go to the Statue of Liberty, be sure to get there early (and email me in advance so we can meet up.)
