Kids get smart the old fashioned way. From the LA Times: "For every hour a day that babies 8 to 16 months old were shown such popular series as "Brainy Baby" or "Baby Einstein," they knew six to eight fewer words than other children, the study found." People with ADHD have less dopamine and are more likely to be substance abusers... but not just because they want to get high. Cigarettes, alcohol, marijuana, cocaine and other drugs may increase dopamine activity in their brains and make them function better. More here.

Boy bullies and boys who are victims of bullies are more likely to have mental health disorders as young men. "...boys who habitually bullied were more likely than their peers to be diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder as young men. People with this disorder have a disregard for the law and the rights of other people, and are often aggressive or violent. On the other end of the spectrum, boys who were frequent victims of bullying had an elevated risk of anxiety disorders as young men."
