Don’t Look, Don’t Tell

So the Republicans decided they won’t allow an independent commission to look into what went wrong after Katrina struck the Gulf Coast. I wonder if they will be haunted by their votes when this country has it’s next catastrophe? Where will the next one be and who will live there? It could be one of these people who voted against an independent commission and they might be the ones who cry for food and water for days. That might be the time they would wish to change the vote they cast today.

I guess the Republicans who voted against an independent commission are satisfied with how the aftermath of Katrina was handled. Either that or they will wager American lives in order to try to save the reputation of one failing person and one party.

The president of the United States told us we were safer due to the establishment of the Dept. of Homeland Security. We were not. Does that lie measure up to or even rise above a lie told by another president regarding a personal transgression?

The Republicans are telling us they don’t want an independent commission to look into what went wrong after Katrina because they don’t want to know. And basically, they don’t want to face the possible findings of such a commission because they don’t want us to know what and how badly things went wrong. They feel that if they don’t allow an independent commission to look, they won’t have to tell.

Remember this next year as elections roll around. The Party in power now is more concerned about covering their president’s ass than protecting yours.
